Warmbat Introduces the World's First Eco-Friendly Sheepskin™

Introduction of Eco-Friendly Sheepskin™

Worldwide the issue of environmental awareness is becoming more and more important and Warmbat Australia has decided it's time to put it's sheepskin boot clad foot down!  Warmbat have changed their manufacturing processes and are now proud to introduce the world's first Eco Friendly Sheepskin™ footwear.

Paul Barclay, Warmbat's Australian born president and CEO explains the thinking behind this not inconsiderable change, "Designing great looking, high quality products for our customers is our main objective.  And a big part of that is creating products that are environmentally friendly, that give our customers peace of mind that Warmbat is doing its part.  In Australia, the great majority of sheep are raised for the wool industry or bred for lamb for the food industry.  Sheepskin is an organic, natural by product of both of these industries, and is more environmentally friendly than synthetic alternatives.  We're proud to bring our customers the first environmentally friendly sheepskin products that are not only trendy, fashionable and comfortable, but that meet the highest standards of environmental compatibility.  And we're able to do it without raising the price of our products."

Warmbat's products already feature removable, washable and replaceable insoles, long-lasting outsoles and the patented Dri-Lex® moisture absorption system to extend the life of the boots and shoes and cut down on waste.

Warmbat is introducing its new Eco-Friendly Sheepskin in many of its best-selling shearling products in 2007 and their eventual aim is to have all their products produced with Eco-Friendly Sheepskin.

Eco-Friendly Sheepskin™ was developed in accordance with the daily demands for health of everyone and for the duty to the environment. This sheepskin is tanned and finished strictly with Chrome-free tanning agents and chemicals.

Eco-Friendly Sheepskin™ consists of double face for boots and single face for shoe lining and some other varieties. The production process for Eco-Friendly Sheepskin™, which is a certified leather system that fits the SG label criteria, gives the customer peace of mind, knowing the leather meets rigid standards for harmful substances. Boots made of Eco-Friendly Sheepskin™ are environmentally compatible and dermatologist tested.
